“Hello, brothers and sisters, in the love of Jesus Christ! I want to express my gratitude to God’s servants who have shown care and support for the Tay and Nung people,” says 23-year-old Tuân* in Lang Son, Vietnam.
“We want to thank everyone who has contributed to the publication of materials for the Tay and Nung people in Lang Son.”
Tuân is responsible for the children’s ministry where he lives. There are 11 districts with a population of almost 800,000 people, 42% who belong to the Nung ethnic group and 35% the Tay.
In Vietnam, children are mainly taught in Vietnamese at school, with limited opportunities to engage with literature in their native languages, especially in ethnic minority communities.
However, Bible Society Vietnam, with the support of Bible Society Australia (BSA) donors, is running a project to ensure ethnic minorities are able to immediately engage with newly translated Scriptures in their own languages.
“I thank Bible Society Vietnam for delivering the publications to the Church,” says Tuân. “The Gospel publications based on the book of Mark and the four stories of Jesus’ birth, temptation, death, and resurrection are all very easy to understand, clear, and detailed. People of all ages can easily understand them.”
In addition to the Scriptures delivered in Tuân’s community, in Hoa Binh, there has been a wave of excitement among Muong children as they receive copies of the Gospel of Mark translated into their native language.
These copies include instructions on reading the Bible and beautiful bookmarks. As children open the Gospel, they connect with Christianity for the first time in their language in a meaningful and special way.
