‘Reconcile!’ for Refugee Children

Working with humanitarian aid agencies, Bible Society Lebanon is offering hope to refugee children through an interactive drama presentation about reconciliation and forgiveness, based on Bible stories. The presentation — called “Reconcile!” — is accompanied by the distribution of literature which paraphrases Bible stories about reconciliation. This project aims to impact 16,000 people, including 15,000 children. Around 1,000 camp leaders and heads of families will also be offered copies of the Arabic Peace & Justice Bible.

Literacy for Refugees and the Underprivileged

This project aims to provide children in refugee communities in Lebanon — and in the underprivileged communities who host them — with a Bible-based literacy course designed to help them back into a formal education system. The project involves a three-month program of two classes per week, with Arabic (level 1 to 3) and English (level 1 and 2) curriculums. Each new student receives a free Arabic Scripture containing 365 stories and an English Scripture, along with an accompanying audio CD.

Empowering Female Domestic Workers with Literacy

Bible Society Australia is partnering with Bible Society of The Gulf (BSG) to empower marginalised Sri Lankan domestic workers living in Bahrain with essential literacy skills. BSG is dedicated to serving Sinhala churches, whose congregations are primarily composed of domestic workers. The goal of this project is to foster emerging, improving, and fluent literacy skills within this community. In 2024, BSG will plan and prepare for the literacy program, engage with the community, develop partnerships and train their literacy staff and teachers.

Children and Adults Post Literacy

The Bible Society of Egypt (BSE)’s Children and Adult Post Literacy project aims to build on basic literacy skills in students of all ages and prevent a relapse into illiteracy. This project facilitates personal and spiritual development as individuals accept responsibility and take initiative for their ongoing learning. Each student receives a resource package containing Scripture portions, exercise books, audio material, games, exercises and activities. In 2024, BSE aims to provide 3,300 Scripture materials along with 26,400 printed primers and 21,400 supplementary reading material.

Child of Bethlehem: Reaching out to Palestinian Children and Youth

This project aims to engage Palestinian children and youth across various settings, including churches of various denominations and schools, through a comprehensive Bible-based program focused on Christian education and values such as resilience, transformation, and hope. Activities include educational trips, conferences, camps, puppet shows, school programs, and special events for Christmas, Easter, with the distribution of meaningful gifts and Scriptures.

Healing Under His Wings
(Arab Israeli Bible Society)
The Arab Israeli Bible Society (AIBS) aims to impact 15,000 people from December 2023 to 2025 through Scripture distribution in print and online, Bible engagement through trauma healing programs, and Scripture resources specially designed for schools. The goal of this project is to sow the seeds of salvation, hope and faith through the word of God, and to offer a biblical alternative to war, through building a culture of peace-making and reconciliation.

Bibles and Bread for Refugees
(Bible Society of Jordan)

Over the years, Jordan has been known to be a land of refuge for many Arab and non-Arab populations. As wars continue, many refugees have had to prolong their stay in Jordan with challenging living conditions. This project serves Syrian and Iraqi refugee families as well as struggling Jordanian families. Distribution of Bibles and emergency supplies for these families and are done in cooperation with volunteer partners in local churches, and through home distributions and church visits. This project also includes university and school tuition support for families nurturing the Christian faith of their children.

Helping Israelis with Basic Needs and Spiritual Encouragement

This project aims to provide both humanitarian assistance and spiritual aid to those suffering from conflict, death and displacement, including the provision of basic necessities, the word of God, and resources for trauma healing. This project's goals include providing 10,000 packages/items of necessities to traumatised people; offering 10,000 Bibles, Scripture portions, and outreach resources to those suffering, giving hope and comfort; translating booklets on trauma healing into Hebrew, then publishing and distributing them.

Core Presence
(Arab Israeli Bible Society)

Bible Society Australia is working with the Arab Israeli Bible Society (AIBS) to strengthen their presence and enable their work in Galilee. This project serves the Arab Israeli community with Scripture resources and interactive community conferences and events, serving both the local church and the broader community. AIBS maintains a centre open to the public for the community to visit, ask questions, engage with biblical resources and attend conferences and events.
