Why is the Bible GOOD NEWS for you?
With Christians spending so much time defending the truth of the Bible in a skeptical world we can forget to actually feed on its truth. Discover in this talk 5 ways that the Bible is Good News for all of life and for everyone in how it speaks to life’s deepest questions.

Lily Strachan
Chaplain, Robert Menzies College, Sydney
The surprising strength of weakness
Our world proclaims that the #blessed are confident, beautiful, successful and adored, yet Jesus claimed that the blessed are poor, meek, pure, and persecuted. Does that mean that if we’re with Jesus, we have to welcome weakness? How can there be any upsides to physical or mental illness, rejection, or pain? Lily will explain why Christ’s words to the weak are not only radical, but a wonderful, surprising source of strength.
BIO
Lily grew up in Sydney, doing everything she could to embrace strength and success. She has since discovered the joy of weakness and loves serving university students as the Chaplain to Robert Menzies College at Macquarie University. Before studying theology, she worked as a corporate lawyer and before that she learnt to love coffee, big books and politics whilst studying at the University of Sydney. She owns the cutest dog in the world, a cavoodle named Ziggy and is writing a book about living with bipolar disorder.
What is Masterclass?
Bible Society's Masterclass events are for students in school years 9-11* to explore contemporary issues from a biblical perspective. Masterclass also includes a popular Q&A session, giving students the freedom to ask our panel of speakers searching questions about the Christian faith. Students are frequently challenged to give a reason for the hope they have in Jesus. Masterclass helps young Christians to grow in their confidence and withstand the pressures of living in a post-Christian society. *Years 8 and 12 are also welcome to attend.
